Supplements supply nutrients not derived from a normal diet, offering superb therapeutic benefits while supporting your wellness goals. Supplements are better off taken with meals as that improves absorption, reduces stomach upsets, and encourages digestion. Taking fish oil, iron, and magnesium supplements on an empty stomach often increases the risk of digestive upset. Some other supplements are absorbed more effectively when taken alongside a snack or meal. Read on to know the five benefits of taking supplements with your meals.

    • 1.  Improves Absorption
    • 2.  Enhances Digestion
    • 3.  Reduces Stomach Upsets
    • 4.  Prevents Dizziness
    • 5.  Lowers Constipation Issues

    1.  Improves Absorption

Taking supplements with food enhances the ability of the body to absorb multiple nutrients seamlessly. Supplements blend multiple ingredients and nutrients, which takes the body more time and energy to absorb. Consuming fat-soluble supplements with oils and fats improves absorption rates, ensuring your body converts most supplement nutrients into the components your body needs to heal. For instance, according to studies, dietary fat does improve the absorption of vitamin D and other dietary supplements. Higher contents of fat or meal during the intake of supplements can increase the absorption rate.

    2.  Enhances Digestion

When you take supplements with food, you’ll also note that digestion is fast. Combining certain meals with supplement nutrients increases stomach acid and improves digestion. Taken with foods, the natural testosterone supplement gets digested faster and more efficiently. The purpose of the stomach acid is to break down the mineral and vitamin compounds and isolate the nutrients. That way, your body can quickly and seamlessly use the nutrients to the user’s benefit.

That happens most especially when you consume supplements comprising carbonate compounds such as calcium carbonate. It also happens when you take supplements comprising other compounds, minerals, and nutrients.

    3.  Reduces Stomach Upsets

One of the problems you will encounter when you take supplements on an empty stomach is stomach upset. Whether the multivitamins or supplements are available in gummies, chewable tablets, capsules, tablets, or liquid, you’re likely to experience severe stomach upsets when you take them without food, The stomach upsets are mostly a way for your stomach to tell you that the body’s nutritional bases are low, and you will need a stellar diet to curb the upsets.

Remember, taking more minerals and vitamins than required will cause stomach cramps and upsets. If you’re full and you happen to have stomach upsets after taking multivitamins, you might need to check the mineral and vitamin content of the supplement.

    4.  Prevents Dizziness

Most supplements are rich in high vitamin and mineral content and other nutrients that support overall body wellness. Whether mineral supplements, herbal supplements, CBD-infused or multivitamins, supplements rarely have extreme side effects. In fact, unless you consume high doses of the supplement, you may never experience dizziness. However, the components making most dietary and herbal supplements are strong and effective. Therefore, when you take them on an empty stomach, you’re likely to feel dizzy and discomfort. Mostly, supplements that cause dizziness contain fat-soluble vitamins, choline, B vitamins, and zinc minerals.

    5.  Lowers Constipation Issues

Supplements with high iron, fiber, and calcium content often cause constipation. Although not everyone will have constipation issues after taking such supplements, you’re likely to experience the issue if you take the supplement before taking your meal. In some instances, taking the meal before or after the supplement may not be the safest way.

Most health specialists recommend taking the supplements while taking your meals to reduce issues with constipation. A meal rich in fruits, whole grains, vegetables, and fruits is the ultimate deal for you. Oatmeal, whole wheat bread, carrots, broccoli, apples, kidney beans, and chickpeas are some of the best foods known to reduce constipation.

Supplements are widely taken for various reasons, including boosting muscle mass, reducing body fat, improving overall wellness, and treating various sicknesses. Supplements are created with the user in mind, so the ingredient count is limited to what can benefit the user wholly. Every supplement comes with specific usage instructions, which you must follow.

However, that doesn’t limit you to the usage guidelines since you can alter them to benefit your body more. One of the ways to change how you take your supplements is taking the multivitamins with food instead of taking the food or after the supplement. That way, you can protect yourself against constipation issues and stomach upsets while boosting absorption and digestion.
