Instructions for Drawing The Tree of Life
Step 1
Begin by drawing the bottom trunk and roots of the tree. It uses curved lines that meet in swirling dots at the ends, similar to the tentacles of an octopus. Also, notice the bulges at the roots with a teardrop shape drawn in the middle. These indicate tangled overlapping roots.
Step 2
Continue drawing the roots with long and short curved lines. Notice the shapes that form the roots: small triangles and an inverted heart, similar to that of a Celtic knot.
Step 3
Continue drawing the roots with curved lines, noting that the remaining roots do not end in dots. Instead, they are connected. If necessary, delete parts of existing roots.
Step 4
Start drawing the branches of the tree. On the one hand, use curved lines to draw a short, pointed branch. Draw a long branch down on both sides. Use a couple of parallel curved lines that diverge sharply near the tip. Join the ends with a broad, curved, “V”-shaped line.
Step 5
Draw the next set of branches, erasing the overlap points as needed. Use a long curved line for the tip of each branch.
Draw the bottom of the branch with curved lines broken by a series of curved lines that meet at points. Notice that one branch diverges into a spiral shape, and a spike crosses the lower branch.
Step 6
Use the curved lines to draw the next branch and erase if necessary. Note the branches rising from the branch below to cross and help form the knotting pattern.
Step 7
Use the curved lines to draw the next branch and erase if necessary. Note that the branches rose below to intersect and form the knot pattern.
Step 8
Draw the last branch on the treetop. Use two curved stripes that are completed at the moment. Next, draw the leaves around the tree.
Step 9
Draw the remaining leaves. For each leaf, use two curved lines to draw a teardrop shape pointing towards the tip. Mark a line down the middle of the leaf to create the central vein.
Step 10
Color in your tree of life. Color your cartoon tree of life. Our illustration shaded that with a dark solid color to mimic the tribal tattoo style.
