Are you tired of your dry and flaky skin prone to itchiness? You are not alone. Your skin with lotions, serums and moisturisers is key to eliminating skin dryness. A straightforward search can help you find good creams and moisturisers from Weleda to keep dryness at bay.

But hydrating your skin from the inside out would need more than this. Your skin needs nutrients to help it heal and repair. If you have not found the solution yet, do not fret. Here are some easy tips for hydrating your skin properly.

Steer Clear of Hot showers and Baths

Hot showers and baths are great for unwinding and relaxing after a long day at work. Hot baths and showers allow water to evaporate from your skin. These work against you and dehydrate your skin in reality. It’s OK to enjoy them once in a while.

Lukewarm water is the way to go instead of hot ones. And if you badly need a hot shower in winter, limit it to five minutes.

    Stay Away from Harsh Cleansers

Harsh cleansers strip your skin of natural skin oils and microbiomes, disrupting the skin barrier. It can lead to cracking, drying and skin dullness. So, avoid hard cleansers that dehydrate your skin from the outside.

Also, it’s important not to overuse cleansers, even mild ones. For better results, avoid cleansing your skin more than twice a day. Instead of completely drying your skin with a towel, pat it dry. And leave it slightly damp while applying your moisturiser.

    Use Heavier Moisturiser at Night-time

A moisturiser helps to soften the outer layer of your skin and improves the skin barrier. Surprisingly, heated dry air causes the skin to lose moisture even while you sleep.

Using a heavy moisturiser from brands like Weleda at night adds nourishment to your skin. It supports the skin barrier and locks the moisture in, so your skin doesn’t dry at night.

    Avoid Dehydrating Drinks and Foods

Excessive caffeine, alcohol, sugar and salt are the main culprits of skin dehydration. Poor diet makes your skin look dull, pale and lifeless. Hence, staying away from these food items can do wonders for your skin health.

The benefits of fruits and vegetables aren’t just for your health. They do much good for your skin too. Foods rich in anti-oxidants and collagen keep your skin plump. A healthy diet with good-quality moisturisers can make your skin supple and youthful again.

    Increase Your Water Intake

Enough water intake is a criminally underrated way to change your skin’s texture and rehydrate it. Most people assume that they drink enough water throughout the day. But once you start tracking your water intake, you will notice the deficit.

Besides drinking plain water, include foods high in water such as watermelon, musk melon, cantaloupe and spinach in your diet to see definite results.

    Skin Hydration

It is easy to fix skin dehydration. But just hydrating it on the surface won’t do any good. Changing your eating and drinking habits to transform your skin would be best. But that does not mean you can shun away your skincare routine.

Using a mild cleanser and applying a moisturiser like Weleda body butter is the best way to pamper your skin. Fit the above easy and practical tips into your life to get healthy and youthful skin.
